OPTION FOR TENORS AND BASSES TO JOIN 1BELLA VOCE MAY 17 &  18, 2025 PERFORMANCES

Bella Voce Women’s Chorus will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next season, and the festivities will include two Vermont performances of Poulenc’s Gloria next May, 2025. For these concerts, Bella Voce will be joined by Solaris Vocal Ensemble, and we would also like to have 20 Tenors and Basses join us for these special performances!

Tenors and Basses selected to perform with Bella Voce and Solaris in the May 17 & 18 performances in Vermont (one in the Burlington area and a second one roughly an hour outside the Burlington area), will need to rehearse with Solaris Vocal Ensemble on Tuesday nights at College Street Congregational UCC, Burlington, from 7:00 – 8:45 pm on April 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, plus the dress rehearsal on Friday, May 16, at 7:00 pm.

INFORMATION FOR CARNEGIE HALL PERFORMANCE JUNE 22, 2025

Singers of any voice part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass) are welcome to audition. Audition process is below.

Those not singing in the May Vermont performances would need to learn the part on their own (note the part recordings options listed above) AND participate in an extensive in-person rehearsal in the Burlington area (location to be determined) on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 1:00 – 5:00 pm.

It is possible for very experienced singers outside Vermont to participate in this Carnegie Hall performance. Please email DawnWillisVT@gmail.com to request details.

AUDITION INFORMATION

There is a small audition process (less than 1 ½ minutes of music) for all singers interested in participating in either the Vermont performances or the Carnegie Hall concert as a part of the Vermont Choral Artists.

Singers will need to prepare measures 1- 45 of the Gloria 2nd movement – Laudamus te – and either record themselves (see details below) or sing it in-person at an audition location in the Burlington area before September 20, 2024. The seven pages of the choral score with those first 45 measures of the 2nd movement can also be found here.

If you would like help learning that portion, CyberBass is a free online site that has individual parts of major choral works prominently played for singers’ learning purposes. Here is the CyberBass link for the Poulenc Gloria. Simply click on the voice part and a keyboard reduction of the orchestral parts, plus the other choral parts will be in the background with the individual part selected played prominently. https://www.cyberbass.org/Major_Works/Poulenc_F/poulenc_gloria.htm

If you would prefer to have a vocalist sing your part, Single Parts has part recordings of the Gloria for purchase at https://rehearsalarts.com/Poulenc_Gloria_5.html.

To submit a recording for your audition, you can play the CyberBass part recording on your computer and record yourself singing it on your phone, then email it to me at DawnWillisVt@gmail.com. Please include your name, voice part, mailing address, and a short description of your choral experience. Singers will be notified of the outcome of the audition within one week of submission.

Or, if you would prefer an in-person audition, please email for information about audition dates this spring and summer.

Here is a recording of the second movement of the Poulenc Gloria recorded by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra & Chorus conducted by Robert Shaw.
